3 What is a solar rooftop system?
A solar rooftop system is a setup installed on the rooftops of homes or businesses that generates electricity using sunlight. A solar panel installation on a rooftop includes solar panels, an inverter, mounting structures, and other electrical components that work together to generate electricity. You can use this electricity to power your appliances and reduce your monthly electricity bills. If your system is connected through net metering, you can send excess electricity back to the grid and receive credits based on your state’s policy.
4How does a solar rooftop system work?
A rooftop solar system starts to generate electricity when sunlight falls on the solar panels. The solar cells (Photovoltaic Cells) inside the panels absorb sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity. The physical installation of a rooftop solar system usually takes around 3-7 days. After that, it may take a few more days before your system starts generating electricity, as the final approvals and net metering need to be completed. 14Will solar work during cloudy days or monsoon?
Yes, solar panels continue to generate electricity even during cloudy days and the monsoon. However, the amount of electricity generated will be lower than on bright, sunny days. There are a few types of solar panels that are designed to work even in low-light conditions. Your rooftop solar system will automatically use the available solar power first and draw additional electricity from the grid whenever needed.
