Reitz India, a leading industrial-grade centrifugal fan manufacturer serving sectors such as cement, oil & gas, power, food processing, pharmaceuticals, glass and ceramics, has significantly lowered its operational costs by adopting rooftop solar at its Isnapur facility. With the installation of a 650 kW rooftop solar system, the company now meets nearly 45% of its total energy requirement through clean, renewable power.
This initiative has delivered strong financial and environmental benefits, making Reitz India a model for sustainable industrial operations.
Why the Solar Transition Was Important
Before installing the commercial solar system, Reitz India’s electricity expenditure averaged ₹1.17 crore per month, adding up to approximately ₹14 crore annually. Given the energy-intensive nature of manufacturing centrifugal fans, grid electricity formed a major share of their recurring operational costs.
The company also had large shed-roofs and underutilised rooftop space that presented an ideal opportunity to develop a long-term renewable energy asset.
How Freyr Energy Executed the Project
Freyr Energy evaluated that an investment of ₹2.6 crore in rooftop solar infrastructure would help Reitz India address rising industrial electricity tariffs and build energy resilience.
The project was executed in two phases:
- Phase 1: 500 kW commissioned in May 2023
- Phase 2: 150 kW commissioned in July 2025
To ensure high energy yield and long-term performance, the system uses 540 Wp TOPCon solar modules sourced from Goldi Solar and Saatvik Solar.
A web-based remote monitoring and energy-management system has been integrated to provide real-time generation data, performance tracking and maintenance alerts. This ensures the system consistently operates at optimal efficiency.
Financial and Operational Impact
The 650 kW rooftop solar system delivers:
- Monthly energy generation: around 60,852 kWh
- Daily average generation: around 2,550 kWh
- Annual electricity bill savings: approximately ₹6.7 crore
- Annual tax savings: approximately ₹2 crore
- Total annual benefit: close to ₹9 crore
With nearly 45% reduction in grid dependence, Reitz India has been able to substantially cut its power costs. These savings can now be diverted towards upgrading manufacturing systems, R&D and future expansion.
Broader Significance for Indian Industries
Reitz India’s rooftop solar adoption highlights how industrial units with large roof or shed space can convert unused areas into productive, high-return energy assets. For power-intensive manufacturers, rooftop solar offers:
- Protection against rising electricity tariffs
- Predictable long-term operational costs
- Improved energy security
- Reduced carbon footprint and stronger ESG alignment
This project demonstrates that rooftop solar is not just a cost-saving measure but a strategic business investment.
A Strong Example of Clean, Competitive Industrial Growth
By shifting to renewable energy, Reitz India has improved its cost competitiveness, strengthened its sustainability profile, and reduced exposure to grid-power fluctuations.
The success of this project reflects Freyr Energy’s commitment to providing reliable, efficient and technology-driven solar solutions that support India’s clean energy transition.
