While explaining the purpose of the centres, Radhika Chaudhary, Co-founder and Director of Freyr Energy, confirmed that the consumers will have the opportunity to assess the solar panels slantwise right there while sorting out the issue of money. She highlighted that nearly 70% of homeowners interested in solar for home are looking for financing options. as an alternative. Hence, to stand with them, Freyr Energy is in partnership with various NBFCs and allows customers to fill in the forms for solar loans through the Jan Samarth Portal where schemes of the government like the PM Surya Ghar Yojana are available. It’s the company’s goal to expand beyond these first 15 centres and cover the entire state in the next six months.

Uttar Pradesh is known for being unique among other states in that it provides its citizens with an additional state solar subsidy, which is in addition to the incentives from the central government. Speaking in this regard, Chaudhary has pointed out that the Yogi government’s residential solar panel installation subsidy is a big contributor to reduce the solar panel price . The state will look to shell out ₹15,000 per kilowatt, while also offering people who qualify for this subsidy a maximum benefit of ₹30,000.

Freyr Energy will be delivering this service to consumers who consume electricity of ₹1,000-₹1,200 and above per month, specifically. The company is going to non-major cities to ensure that both solar for business and residential consumers get to have access to clean energy—this is inclusive of solar for both rural and semi-urban areas. Now, Freyr Energy is operating in 30 districts of UP and is preparing to expand its reach in all 75 districts of the state on a priority basis.
