Project Overview
CHIREC International School, located in Serilingampally, Telangana, is a top-notch school that focuses on new ideas and long-term growth. The school needs a lot of energy because it has a large campus; thus, it needs a green, cost-effective, and efficient energy solution.
To help with the rising cost of electricity, the school teamed up with Freyr Energy to install a 550+ kWp grid-connected rooftop solar solution. The project started on March 6, 2026, and went well.
Project Objectives
The main goals of the initiative were:
- Cut down on the cost of electricity
- Encourage the use of clean, renewable energy
- Encourage long-term energy sustainability
- Make the most of the space on the roof
Solar Solution Provided
Freyr Energy provided the school with a customized rooftop solar solution tailored to meet its specific needs.
The solar solution is made up of the following parts:
- Solar panels that work really well
- Technology for inverters
- Customized roofs for RCC buildings and metal sheds
The solar solution has been placed in the best spots on several rooftops.
System Technical Specifications
System Capacity: More than 550 kWp
AC Power: 430 kW
Total Modules: 949 solar panels
Module Technology: 580 Wp TOPCON modules
Inverters: Mix of 50 kW and 110 kW grid-connected inverters
Type of Roof: RCC flat roof and metal shed constructions
Installation & Execution Process
The project began with a site investigation and then an engineering design that was meant to make sure the greatest performance.
- Panels were set up with the best tilt angles and direction
- Focus on getting the most sunshine
- Using high-quality parts for long-term use
Safety steps included:
- Correct earthing systems
- Lightning protection
- Organized cable management
Challenges and Solutions
Different Types of Roofs
There were RCC roofing and aluminium shed roofs on the campus.
A unique mounting method was made for each model.
Strength of Structure and Handling of Loads
Roof safety was a major concern.
Engineered support structures with strong anchoring systems were used.
Shadow Management
Shadows can make the system work less well.
A thorough study was done to get the most sun exposure possible.
Results and Performance
Energy Generation
The system makes about 7.5 to 8 lakh units of power every year.
Cost Savings
The initiative is possible since the school is saving over ₹79 lakhs annually.
Environmental Impact
The technology cuts down on CO₂ emissions by about 907.5 tons per year, making the environment greener.
Impact on the Institution
Not only does this initiative provide the campus with green energy, but it also shows how much the institution cares about the environment. This project is very essential because the school has thousands of pupils. It shows how renewable energy can be used in real life and encourages the future generation to use energy wisely.
What Makes This Project Unique
- Large-scale solar adoption in schools
- Smart integration with different types of roofs
- Use of advanced TOPCON solar technology
- Strong focus on engineering, safety, and efficiency
Conclusion
The CHIREC International School solar energy project is a great illustration of how India will use solar energy in the future. With the correct design and implementation, it is clear that solar energy adoption in India has a very bright future.
